This tournament is Captain’s Choice (captain chooses the best of each shot and everyone plays from that spot).

The outing, sponsored by Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cranberry, was created in 2009 by congregation members Karen Johanknecht and Alan Krohe, both of Cranberry, as a way to pay tribute to longtime Hope member Rege Harbison, Sr.  Mr. Harbison was a self-employed electrician who served Cranberry Township, among other areas north of Pittsburgh, for more than 30 years.  A cancer survivor, he resided at Timberwood Drive prior to his death in September 2008 and is survived by his wife, Fran, and children Rege, Jr. and Pam.  He was a golf enthusiast and a familiar face at the church, where he and Mrs. Harbison welcomed parishioners and guests for many years every Sunday morning.

“Our inaugural outing last August was such a success, and we’re excited to do it all again this year,” Johanknecht said.  “We’re accepting golfers now.”

Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society through Cranberry Township’s Relay For Life.
